Thank You Stimulus $

We decided we were going to use our stimulus money to go toward food storage. Today we spent 3 hours at the cannery canning flour, oats, spaghetti, milk etc etc. This wall of storage is a year's supply for one adult plus a 3 month supply for 5 people. We are heading back in July (the next available date to dry pack) to do another years supply. Hopefully we can pack 5, one year supplies in our little storage room so we can say we are officially done with our food storage. This is a good start. We are grateful for the extra cash flow so we could finally get going on more food storage. What did you decide to spend your stimulus money on?

Memorial Weekend

We debated on going camping this weekend because the weather wasn't cooperating but were happy we did. It was a great weekend. We went to Cave Falls in Ashton and it hardly rained. The kids found a lady bug and it was great until it "pooped" on Ashtyn. They were very willing to pose and I got some great shots of them in the wilderness being all cute and happy. It amazes me how kids can find things to do with absolutely nothing. They were acrobats, fairies, bad guys, and gold diggers for the day. We also played hide-and-seek which can prove tricky in the wilderness. There are only so many rocks and trees one can hide behind. If you are a cool Dad, you hide on top of the camper where no one can find you until they hike a mountain and see you on the treck down. The first night we camped out, Haylee decided to get sick on us and threw up all over in the camper. We used up all of our water bathing her and getting things cleaned up. (I am sooo grateful we invested in a camper, I can't imagine what fun that would have been if we were in a tent) We went home the next morning since we were out of water and filled up and went right back out again. We went to Twin Bridges this time so we didn't have to travel too far. It did rain the entire day so we spent the day in the camper watching movies and we took a break and went swimming at Heise. Ashtyn and Haylee braved the rain for awhile and perfected the art of sharing a log to stand on. Here is everyone under the awning of the camper trying to stay dry. Brigham found his Tarzan rope and entertained us by yodeling while he whipped around and acted like Tarzan. Anytime you want to go camping...give us a call! We will be ready to go despite the lame weather. It only took a day to get everything through the laundry, glad that is over!

Branding Cows

We spent the day helping Dad brand the calfs and vaccinate the Cows. The kids enjoyed it with the exception of Haylee who thought it was a little too brutal for her taste. She gladly went and helped Grandma make lunch while the rest of us helped Dad. I didn't do too much but babysitting should count for something. Check out the slide show. Please note I am not a horrible mother...Brigham is in a t-shirt and Brock was in a nice warm coat. The weather was nice, Brock just didn't want to take the coat off.

Painted Purple, Tickled Pink

We finally took the plunge and painted the girls room purple. They have wanted their room painted since we moved in two years ago but we just never got around to it. Not only did we paint, but we moved their bedroom downstair so we could make their current bedroom an office upstairs. They are loving their room and I am loving an office. My house feels so much bigger now that I don't have a computer desk in the kitchen. Some day I am either going to to change the curtains with something pink or I have thought of running pink ribbon down it to give it some color...that is the color they had before so they don't really work with the purple walls. Under the Sisters make Best Friends vinyl, I am going to put several framed pictures up of them together. Scott gets the best husband of the day reward. I came home from work to a finished closet. I didn't even ask him to get the shelfs up, he just did it on his own. There was also dinner made when I got home. It isn't even Mother's Day yet so I was pretty impressed. Thanks Scotty, I really do appreciate it!
